About El Gebali Crypto
What is El Gebali Crypto?
El Gebali Crypto is a VQF-affiliated Swiss financial intermediary based in Allschwil. We offer Swiss customers a simple way to buy stablecoins (USDT and USDC) with Swiss francs (CHF).
What does "VQF-affiliated" mean?
The VQF is a recognized Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) that supervises compliance with the Swiss Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA) on behalf of FINMA (the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority). As a member, we are subject to strict compliance and customer identification audits. Your money is transferred through a regulated provider.
Where is El Gebali Crypto based?
Our head office is located in Allschwil, Canton of Basel-Landschaft, Switzerland. Full contact details can be found on the Legal Notice page.
Buying Process
Is there a step-by-step guide?
Yes — our illustrated order guide walks you through the entire process in seven steps: from entering the amount and your wallet address to payment and delivery, including screenshots and tips on the most common pitfalls.
How does buying work?
The process is straightforward:
- Select the coin you want (USDT or USDC) and the amount in CHF on our homepage
- Enter the wallet address where the coins should be sent
- Send the amount via bank transfer to our account (details provided after your order)
- Once your payment arrives, we send the coins to your wallet
How long does the whole process take?
Once your payment arrives, the coins are sent to your wallet immediately. The overall duration therefore depends mainly on your bank's processing time (bank transfers in Switzerland typically take 1 business day).
What are the minimum and maximum order amounts?
- Minimum: CHF 10 per order
- Maximum without identity verification: CHF 1'000 per year (cumulative, sum of all orders)
- Higher amounts: possible after a one-time identity check (KYC) — contact us at info@elgebali-crypto.ch
Which payment methods do you accept?
We currently accept bank transfers (SEPA/SIC). Card payments are in preparation.
Which coins can I buy?
We currently offer USDT (Tether) and USDC (USD Coin) on the Ethereum network (ERC-20). More coins and networks are planned.
Can I also buy Bitcoin or Ethereum?
Not directly through our platform at the moment, but we are working on it. If you are interested, please contact us at info@elgebali-crypto.ch for individual advisory.
Payment and Security
Where do I transfer the money?
The banking details (IBAN, account holder) are provided after you submit your order — both by email and on the order confirmation page. Please make sure to use the given reference number (format: SP-XXXXXX) in the payment description so we can match your payment to your order.
What happens if I forget the reference number?
Without the correct reference number, we cannot automatically match your payment to your order. Please contact us immediately at info@elgebali-crypto.ch with your order number and the date of the transfer.
What if I transfer the wrong amount?
- Too little: We will contact you and ask you to transfer the difference.
- Too much: We refund the excess amount to the account the payment came from. Any bank fees we incur for the refund transfer will be deducted from the refund amount.
What happens if I don't pay?
Orders that remain unpaid after 7 days are automatically cancelled. You will receive an email confirmation. You can place a new order at any time.
Can I change my order after submitting it?
As long as the order is still "pending" and you have not paid yet, you can cancel it and place a new one. Orders that have already been paid or fulfilled cannot be changed.
Is my data safe?
Yes. We process your data in accordance with the Swiss Data Protection Act (FADP) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Details are available in our Privacy Policy. Our platform uses TLS/HTTPS encryption and stores customer data in encrypted form.
Identity Verification (KYC)
When do I need identity verification?
For orders totaling up to CHF 1'000 per year cumulatively, no identity check is required. Once you exceed the annual limit or want to buy higher amounts at once, a one-time identity check (KYC) is required under the Swiss Anti-Money Laundering Act.
How does identity verification work?
Identity verification is done through a secure online process with our partner. You need a valid ID document (passport or ID card) and a smartphone or webcam. The process typically takes about 10 minutes.
Why do you need my wallet address?
Your wallet address is the "receiving address" for your coins — similar to an IBAN for a bank account. Without this address, we cannot send you the coins. Please check the address carefully; blockchain transactions are irreversible.
Wallets and Blockchain
Which wallet addresses are supported?
We currently support Ethereum addresses (ERC-20), since we sell USDT and USDC on Ethereum. Your wallet address starts with 0x and is 42 characters long.
What is wallet verification and how does it work?
Once your total order volume exceeds CHF 1'000 per year, we are required as a Swiss financial intermediary to verify that the receiving wallet actually belongs to you. Verification takes about a minute: on our verification page, you digitally sign a short message with your wallet (e.g. MetaMask or Binance Wallet). This signature is free of charge, does not trigger any transaction and gives us no access whatsoever to your funds — it merely proves that you control the private key of the address you provided.
If your wallet does not support message signing (e.g. exchange-hosted wallets), an alternative method is available: you send a symbolic amount of 1 USDT from your wallet to us, which we credit to your next order. Verification is a one-time step per wallet address — all future orders proceed without any additional step.
Why is wallet verification an advantage for me as a customer?
Verification primarily protects you: it ensures your stablecoins are only ever sent to an address whose ownership has been proven — effective protection against typing errors when entering addresses and against fraud attempts where third parties inject their own receiving addresses. Since blockchain transactions cannot be reversed, this check before dispatch is your best protection.
At the same time, it fulfils FINMA requirements for Swiss financial intermediaries. For you, this means you are trading with a regulated, VQF-supervised provider applying the same due-diligence standards as a bank — your transactions are documented, traceable and legally sound. This sets us apart from unregulated P2P offerings, where you have no protection in case of a dispute.
I don't have a wallet yet — what should I do?
Well-known and commonly used wallets include:
- MetaMask (browser extension + mobile app)
- Trust Wallet (mobile app)
- Ledger or Trezor (hardware wallets for larger amounts)
I entered the wrong wallet address — what now?
Please contact us immediately at info@elgebali-crypto.ch if the coins have not yet been sent. Once the transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, it is irreversible — even we cannot recover the coins.
How can I verify that the coins really arrived?
After we fulfill your order, we send you the transaction hash (TX hash) by email. You can use it to track the transaction on a blockchain explorer such as Etherscan. Simply enter the hash or your wallet address into the search field.
Prices and Fees
How are prices calculated?
We use the current market rate (from reliable sources such as CoinGecko and Kraken) and add a transparent margin. The exact price is shown to you before placing your order.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. The price you see on the order page is the price you pay. Your bank may charge fees for the transfer — this is independent of us.
Does the rate change between order and payment?
The rate is locked in at the moment you place the order. If you pay within the usual deadline, the price shown at ordering applies. For very late payments (after automatic cancellation), you will need to place a new order — the then-current rate will apply.
My Account
How does login without a password work?
At El Gebali Crypto there are no passwords. Instead, we use what's called a magic link: you simply enter your email address, and we send a one-time login link straight to your inbox. One click — and you're logged in.
This method is also used by many major services such as Slack, Notion, or your bank (when you "reset your password").
Why is this safer than a password?
Passwordless login is safer for several reasons:
- Nothing to steal: Since no password exists, none can be guessed, cracked, or stolen in a data breach.
- No reuse: Many people use the same password across multiple services. If one leaks, all are at risk. That risk doesn't exist here.
- Time-limited: Each login link is valid for only 60 minutes and can be used only once. After that, it's worthless.
- Only your inbox counts: Access is tied to your email address. Only someone with access to your email inbox can log in.
What should I do to stay secure?
Since access runs through your email inbox, its security is essential. We recommend:
- Use a strong, unique password for your email account.
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for your email account.
- Only click login links you requested yourself. If you receive an email with a link you didn't request, simply ignore it — your account stays secure.
Your login stays active for 24 hours after you click the link. After that, simply request a new one.
